Create & edit a trail
Whichever way a trail starts, recorded, planned, or imported, it ends up in the trail editor before it is saved. The same editor opens when you choose Edit on one of your own trails.
Basic info
Section titled “Basic info”- Name and Description: the description supports simple formatting (bold, italic, lists, quotes, links).
- Location: a place name for the trail, free text.
- Date: the day of the hike, used for the Date sort order and date filters.
- Tags: free-form keywords other users can filter by.
- Category and Difficulty (easy, moderate, difficult). A recording or planned route pre-selects the category from the travel profile you chose.
- Public / Private: whether other users can see the trail. New trails start with the default from your privacy settings.
- Completed / Not completed: marks the trail as one you have done, for the Completion status filter. It does not create a summit log; those are written on the web for now.
Photos & videos
Section titled “Photos & videos”Add photos and videos from your device. They are uploaded together with the trail; if some fail, the trail is still saved and the app tells you how many photos are missing. Choosing the cover image is done on the web for now.
Waypoints
Section titled “Waypoints”Waypoints are points of interest along the trail: a viewpoint, a hut, a junction.
- Create waypoint opens a form with name, icon, description, coordinates, and photos. The waypoint’s position along the trail is worked out from its coordinates.
- From Photos lets you pick photos from your device; every photo with GPS coordinates in it becomes a waypoint at that spot, with the photo attached. Photos without location data are skipped (“No GPS data found in this photo”).
Tap a waypoint in the list to edit or remove it.
Edit route (the pencil on the map preview) opens the planner with the trail’s route as anchors. Move, add or delete anchors and confirm with the checkmark to bring the changed route back into the editor.
Saving and offline
Section titled “Saving and offline”Save stores the trail on your device first and uploads it to your instance right away. Without a connection the trail waits in your Library and uploads automatically later.
Editing an existing trail that is already on your instance needs a connection, because the changes are made to the server copy. If you leave the editor with unsaved changes, the app asks whether to discard them.
